History:
| 1959 — |
Began as a small division of Columbus Bank and Trust Company (CB&T). |
| 1974 — |
CB&T started processing electronic transactions for other banks that issued credit cards across states and continents; first by telephone, then by satellite and now by fiber optic cables. |
| 1983 — |
TSYS became a publicly traded company. |
| 1991 — |
Developed an integrated, option–driven payment processing system, TS2. |
| 1994 — |
Launched TS2, still considered the most advanced, flexible, and successful processing platform in the marketplace today. |
| 1998 — |
Upgraded TS2 to support multiple languages and currencies on a single platform. |
| 1999 — |
European office established. |
| 2000 — |
Acquired GP Net, a payments gateway for more than 120,000 merchants in Japan (51% share). |
| 2001 — |
UK and Ireland processing initiated. |
| 2002 — |
Continental Europe processing initiated for commercial card. |
| 2004 — |
EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Data Center commissioned. |
| 2005 — |
Purchased remaining 50% of a merchant processing services company from Visa USA, now TSYS Acquiring Solutions. |

Acquired CTL (Card Tech. Ltd.), now TSYS Card Tech which offers server–based card management systems for acquiring, credit, debit, installments and prepaid, and became licensed to operate in India. |
