TSYS Appoints New Board Member
Columbus, Ga., July 19, 2002 - TSYS has appointed Walter W. Driver, Jr., chairman and CEO of the Atlanta-based law firm King & Spalding, as the newest member of its board of directors.
The board approved Driver's appointment unanimously in its regular meeting on July 16. His service begins immediately; he will begin a three-year term in April 2003 pending approval of shareholders.
In his career, Driver has been involved in many aspects of representing financial institutions, including structured transactions, real estate finance, and banking investigations. His corporate clients have included money center banks, regional banks, international banks and large non-bank financial companies. He coordinates King & Spalding's legal work for its financial clients. Driver graduated from Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., and University of Texas School of Law, Austin, Texas. He joined King & Spalding in 1970, and became a partner in 1976.
Former U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn has retired from the TSYS board of directors, but will continue his association with TSYS as a director emeritus. Nunn is a senior partner at King & Spalding, and also serves as co-chairman and CEO of Nuclear Threat Initiative, a charitable organization working to reduce the risk of use and prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction. Nunn represented Georgia in the U.S. Senate from 1972 until he retired in 1996. He has served as a TSYS director since 1997.
"Walt Driver has exceptional experience in the financial services arena, and his knowledge will be invaluable as TSYS begins its third decade of service for many of the world's leading retail and financial companies. It's a pleasure to welcome him to the TSYS family," said Richard W. Ussery, chairman and CEO of TSYS. "Sam Nunn has been a faithful friend and advisor for many years, including the greatest growth period in the company's history to date. We're abundantly thankful for his service."
