TSYS Group Provides Opportunities for Women

What do TSYS team members love about The Thread? Recently, we asked five women about the global women's networking group at TSYS.

The Thread's purpose is to provide opportunities to grow the skills and talents of women at TSYS through premiere programs and events that focus on professional development, internal and external networking, and giving back to the community.

Currently, there are 17 chapters of The Thread throughout the company, in all corners of the globe. They each participate in service projects, as well as enjoy networking opportunities and leadership speakers on topics that will enhance personal and professional growth.

Recent projects include providing interview skills to less-fortunate women in the community and participating in the Little Black Dress initiative to fight poverty and violence against women.

Championed by Patty Watson, chief information officer at TSYS, The Thread is also connected to the Women's Network in Electronic Transactions (WNET), a professional organization for women in payments.

What women say about The Thread

Members of The Thread from around the world reflected on what the group means to them.

Alea Brim
Vice President-National Account Management
Broomfield, Colorado

It is an investment in the growth and development of women in the TSYS organization. It promotes networking, career and personal development and support of each other. Patty Watson's meet and greet has been my favorite event so far. Her story is amazing and she is a very inspiring leader. I also enjoyed our Dress for Success volunteer event where we helped sort donated clothing for the boutique where women in need are able to "shop" at no charge for professional clothing.

It's a community of women supporting not only each other but everyone around them through training, volunteering, and being available when needed. Last year, The Thread hosted Jan Hargrave, who is a body language expert. It was a very informative and entertaining event applicable not just for women, but for everyone.

Senior Vice President, Enterprise Business Compliance/Industry Advisors

The Thread is an opportunity to champion fellow women as they navigate TSYS, payments and life. The Thread demonstrates leadership in action and explores topics that are important to women, and to men too. It is a community that cultivates peer-leadership and promotes an environment of growth.

I quickly realized that it is something that I really enjoy. I get the opportunity to connect both on a professional as well as on a personal level with a lot of amazing people. Through the Thread we have been able to create opportunities for development in many dimensions and provide and receive support in unexpected ways.

Yvonne Devany
Vice President, Channel Strategy, Netspend
Austin, Texas

The Thread is my connection to the women of Netspend and TSYS. As a network, it provides me with support, energy and balance in both my professional and personal life.

The Thread is just one of many development programs that TSYS offers its team members. Empowering and encouraging women – and all team members – for professional growth and development is an important mission of TSYS.
